This company's sand is smooth and fine and the colors are vibrant. The sand from other companies I have tried was rough and chunky. Some didn't even fit through the funnels. It's worth it to pay a little more for good quality sand. Plus, I love that they have free shipping! The sand comes in heavy duty plastic bags, so I just clip the corners and pour it into my containers, then seal the bag with a bull clip until I need more. The bottles are great, too. The butterflies are especially popular! I used to have other brands as well, but now I just use these so the caps are all interchangeable.

I was skeptical about the darkness of the shade of the sand when placed in bottles as I have seen other products be a little on the lighter side when finished. Still look as dark and rich in color as the day they were made.

Really dark black color. We used the black colored sand for our kids science project. Looks just like the black sand from Hawaii.
